natural materials, intelligent design.
Our work is guided by the belief that objects can be both meaningful and playful, sophisticated and sustainable. This approach to craft and curation transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, inviting you to experience familiar objects from fresh perspectives. Here in our island sanctuary, we're dedicated to creating and sourcing pieces that enrich rather than deplete, that inspire rather than impose, and elevate the everyday experience.
thoughtfully curated goods
Each item in our Eastsound shop reflects our core values: beauty in simplicity, integrity in sourcing, reverence for natural materials, purpose in design, thoughtfulness in how we do business, and kindness in all we do. Our commitment to sustainability guides every choice—from our materials to our relationships with makers and customers.
Jessie Morrow
My connection to Orcas Island has deep roots. I originally came to Orcas Island in 2006 as a sustainable agriculture advocate, nurturing the island’s natural gifts by working the rich soil of Olga Farm. But Orcas had still more to give: its distinctive beauty and sense of place inspired an irresistible creative calling. What started as experimental pieces crafted from hardware parts has evolved into a thoughtfully designed jewelry line, each piece expressing the beauty of natural materials and our island home.
We believe that thoughtful creation is a form of stewardship—a way to honor both the materials we work with and the environment that inspires us. Today, Material Wit offers thoughtfully curated home goods alongside its own line of jewelry inspired by the island's natural beauty.
