This year at Material Wit we’ve found inspiration in the cyclical aspects of nature. We’ve chosen a theme related to this inspiration for each month. The theme is there to guide us in our visual merchandising, product offerings and related promotions. It’s also a way for us to show the intention behind our choices as a company. We hope you’ll follow along in this journey of thought, feeling and action within the Material Wit community.
Our March theme is Emergence.
EMERGENCE
Break through the surface
About 18 years ago I moved to Orcas Island. It was March and the fresh crisp bite still lay on morning surfaces. I lived in a yurt in the woods above the farm I worked. It was a special time. What I remember most are the sounds of nature all around through the thin canvas walls. I’d lie there and listen. The quick chirping of birds, the peepers song in the pond below and the rustling sway of the fir branch above. It was a gentle stirring, like a burbling of water just pushing through a frozen brook. This was the emergence of Spring and my new life on Orcas Island.
I so enjoy the cocooning time of winter. I relish in simple comforts and slower times. This season allows us to reflect and recharge. Then as the weeks go on there is an undercurrent of energy. It builds beneath the surface, momentus. It’s life waking up. During this time I love to allow my ideas to run free, my dreams to go big and my zest for life to swell. I romance my authentic self and give my soul a kiss. Many of my jewelry designs are created during this time. As the season builds a great energy output will be required, but for now, I enjoy living in ideology and passion.
And here we are in March and there is a feeling of emergence. The inner work that’s been done has come to the surface and we are called to take action. What are you passionate about right now and how will you apply your energy?
We hope to connect with you at our shop and through our curation of goods to celebrate your emergence this season.
