LINK Necklace
The LINK necklace was first hand carved in wax in our Orcas Island studio and then cast in brass and sterling silver. The pendant itself is reflective of the sturdy industrial anchor chain. This item is part of MATERIAL WIT’s latest collection HIYU, Japanese for metaphor or simile. The collect is inspired by the Washington State ferry system that serves the San Juan Islands where MATERIAL WIT is based. Named after one such ferry boat, the HIYU collection speaks to the juxtaposition of industry and island life. For designer, Jessie Morrow, the essence of the collection lies in the place in-between these two worlds. Between structure and fluidity, between memory and hope; the passage way after the voyage begins and before it ends.
All MATERIAL WIT jewelry is designed and made in our Orcas Island studio with traditional metal smithing techniques and environmentally sound studio practices. Some of the jewelry is fabricated from metal sheet and wire while other pieces are first carved out of wax and then sent to a local foundry in Portland, OR to be cast in brass, bronze and sterling silver. The jewelry is meticulously finished in house with high quality materials.
My aim, as the designer and maker of MATERIAL WIT jewelry, is to created beautiful, timeless pieces that you can wear and cherish for years to come. I stand behind my work and I hope you love your jewelry. Should you have a problems with your jewelry please let me know by email jessie@materialwit.com.
